UFO 50 is a collection of 50 games created in a retro style of multiple genres with Night Manor being a horror point-and-click adventure game where you wake up in a manor after crashing your car and a maniac is out to get you.

This game alone had me interested in the collection and there’s still 49 other games to try. I’m a tad disappointed there’s no real deaths in this game but it does establish the vibe for this game very well when you’re playing for the first time. Not so much for this playthrough where I know what to do and take out the maniac pretty quickly (normally, anything that makes sound will immediately attract him otherwise he shows up periodically and this forces you to hide or run far enough away). I thought I could run for every time you have to engage with him but I guess you don’t have enough rooms on the first time (anytime you enter a room you can hide you’ll automatically try to do so and except for things like the bushes outside you’ll find the thing you hid behind to be destroyed).

You have two major endings based on whether you escape in the car (which is the same whether or not you’ve shot the maniac) or fully finish, however the true ending then has a slight variation based on whether you made it through deathless or not.

The deaths are the same but there’s an extra line for failing to hide or running back towards the maniac. If you take too long to leave the room you get the same death message.
